Some members of the organisation Oro Negro (Black Gold in Spanish), the first organisation by Afro-Chileans created in 2001. Prior to this year, they were mostly invisible and commonly discriminated by their origins. Nowadays, they’re fighting for the inclusion of them as an ethnic group in the census of the country, therefore they can get the necessary resources for the investigation of their history, culture and their development. Most of them live in Arica, in the northern part of the country.
